USDT ERC-20 vs TRC-20

USDT looks identical in your balance list, but ERC-20 (Ethereum) and TRC-20 (Tron) are separate assets. Anonymous Swap orders specify one network; wallets must send on that same network.

Fee and speed differences

TRC-20 transfers are often cheaper and faster for everyday amounts. ERC-20 fees depend on Ethereum gas and can spike. Neither is “better” for privacy of the deposit itself — both are public chains.

Safety rule

If your USDT is labeled TRC-20 in Trust Wallet, TronLink, or an exchange withdrawal, select TRC-20 on the swap form. If MetaMask shows USDT on Ethereum, select ERC-20 (usdt_eth). Cross-sending between them fails.

After the swap

Regardless of deposit network, XMR payout goes to your Monero address. The privacy benefit starts when value lands in Monero, not on the USDT chain you left.
